“Barsha Das”A role model (Case Study)
case studyBarsha is a 19 years old girl, reading in 2nd. Year B.Sc in Chandernagore college. At present she is studying in science stream with Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. She studies about 8 hours a day, and she very much dedicated to study. She becomes emotional to explain her parents hard life and feel indebted to them. A person like Barsha renews our goodwill each day and provides us strength to work for the poor.
Her family came to Adarshanagore slum with her parents and sister in the year 2003 from Barishal of Bangladesh as refugee and built a bamboo hut with earth tiles roof on the Railway’s land (unlawfully) and started selling fish door to door to earn a living for the family. Her mother also took up house cleaning job of 4 families.
Barsha joined our tutorial from nursery at the age of 3 years. We started educational sponsorship of Barsha while she was in class 6. So we can safely say that both Human Wave (1998) and Barsha (2006) grew up together from their very childhood.
Barsha is also passionate about dancing and she dance very well. She used to learn dancing in our dance class. She takes part in all our cultural functions in Adarshanagore. Barsha’s parents are very much supportive to their both daughters. Barshahas now 6 private tutors for different subjects. Barsha wants to be a scientist doing Ph.D.in Biology. Her parents dream that one day their daughter will bring them out of poverty. The abject poverty could not snatch off their dream. They thank Human Wave and the sponsored parents from the core of their heart. Their sincere efforts inspire us to work for them.
